60 Albums 1996

Overall not one of favorite years but still lots of good music. I did really like getting into the Brian Jonestown Massacre.

This was a tough year to put my favorite albums from my collection in any kind of order. I loved so many of them. I was having a harder time building my collection during this period with young children and going to grad school taking up so much time and money.

60 Albums 1987

Back in 1987 I was still working at the art store, raising a daughter and enjoying music. The John Hiatt album sounded clean and simple and probably got the most play of any record on this list. I enjoyed the new Springsteen record that sounded more quietly focused after the production excess of his previous one. Discovered Blue Rodeo and the Long Ryders. R.E.M, Los Lobos, X, The Cure, Steve Earle, Marshall Crenshaw and so many others were continuing to put out wonderful albums.

60 Albums 2005

It is very unusual for me to have three live albums listed within the top 10 of  an annual list of 60 albums. While there are a lot of good albums on this list that got a lot of play from me I have to admit that it was not one of the better years.

Looking back on this list I think I may need to rearrange the rankings as from today's perspective there are some albums in the lower level that I've probably played more in recent years.

Another good year for music but there is a significant drop-off in the quality of albums on the list. Not so many great albums but lots of good ones. I also just didn't have another album that stood out above the rest as in so many other years.
