Some thoughts on a party

There was a group of angry people in a party smacking away at a yellow haired piñata. They had been doing it for a long time... several decades. They tried many different sticks and bats and clubs. They tried from every height and from every angle. Their hate, anger and frustration was obvious as the yellow haired piñata refused to break and got stronger as time went on. Then an orange clown joined the fray and started whacking the piñata and everyone else around it. All that anger and hatred got out of control as the wackos started relentlessly beating on each other even as the yellow haired piñata got stronger still. Now that grand old party is over, divided, self-destructing and dying even as the orange clown sets himself on fire in the middle of another incoherent rant.

  1. Hello, I found your blog while 'randomizing'. I really enjoyed reading this piece so I rearranged it as free verse because I like poetry (asides from adding line breaks I did NOT edit it in any way).

smacking away at a yellow haired piñata.
They had been doing it for a long time... several decades.

They tried from every height and from every angle.
Their hate, anger and frustration was obvious
as the yellow haired piñata refused to break
and got stronger as time went on.

    and started whacking the piñata
    and everyone else around it.
All that anger and hatred got out of control
as the wackos started relentlessly beating on each other

Now that grand old party is over,
    divided, self-destructing and dying
even as the orange clown sets himself on fire

Will you please grant me permission to post it on Medium (https://medium.com/poets-unlimited) with full credit to you and a link back to it here?

    1. The arrangement is very cool. I'm a reader of Medium with an account and will go ahead and post it under my name rather than the blog name which is probably how you would have done it.

  2. The Republican party won't die just because of Trump. It will die if their only alternatives are people like Cruz and Rubio. It will certainly die if all they offer is more trickle down economic plans, like the one Trump put forward yesterday.
